Crystal Palace fans have taken to Twitter to react after The Sunday Mirror (print edition, page 66, January 19) revealed that both Everton and the Eagles are competing to sign AC Milan hitman Krzysztof Piątek.
The Poland international is also on the radar of Tottenham and Sevilla, although it was mentioned in the aforementioned report that Piątek’s agent had been in touch with the south Londoners after initial talks.
So far this season, the 24-year-old has managed to score just four Serie A goals in 18 appearances, following a 2018/19 campaign in which he netted 22 goals for both Genoa and Milan, having made his £31m move to the San Siro in January 2019.
Roy Hodgson could do with Piątek’s goals, as his Crystal Palace side have scored the second-fewest amount in the Premier League this term with 22 strikes in 23 outings.
The Eagles have added Cenk Tosun to their striking ranks in an attempt to solve this issue, and he got off to the perfect start with a goal against Manchester City in just his second appearance for the club – however, the Piątek talk won’t go away.
Let’s see what the Crystal Palace fans on Twitter have been saying…
To kick off the reaction, a supporter named Ben said that Steve Parish would never get hate again if the club pull this transfer deal off – given the Pole’s previous goalscoring antics and his mega-money move to Milan, it could be deemed as somewhat of a coup.
Elsewhere, Diyar and Louis weren’t getting too excited by this news.
Diyar said that he “won’t get carried away” as the Milan No.9 will “most likely be too expensive for us” while Louis simply said “no thanks” before calling the striker a “one season wonder”.
Meanwhile, Danny said that the news “must have some slight truth” as there are a few different sources running with this story – Przeglad Sportowy also linked the Milan striker with a move to Selhurst Park.
Lastly, these two supporters expressed pessimism over this deal being completed.
One said that, while they “highly doubt we will get him” they think the Eagles need to focus on creating more chances – interesting.
Call yourself a Premier League expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?
Also, Chuck simply said that this move is “not happening”.
