Wolves take a break from league action later this week as their quest for Europa League glory returns in the shape of a knockout tie against La Liga outfit Espanyol.
Back when the two-legged fixture was announced in December, the Spanish side were struggling and lingering in amongst a relegation battle but under new management, they have steered themselves to within two points of safety – they have lost just twice this year.
And their upturn in form isn’t the only thing fans in the west Midlands will be worried about following this update…
Wolves’ relationship with VAR has been quite disastrous as they have had five goals disallowed across the Premier League and the FA Cup this campaign.

Given how things have gone this season, plenty of supporters were already worried by the prospects of having to watch another match affected by VAR technology.
“Another game ruined” was one cry whilst another joked that he would have to get his tickets refunded as a result of the news.

However, some were a little more positive as it wasn’t the Premier League’s selection of referees in charge of the decision-making on Thursday night.
There were also thoughts given to Pedro Neto who has had a fair share of goals ruled out by VAR this campaign, most notably against runaway leaders Liverpool and Manchester United.
Whether Wolves will be overly affected by VAR this week remains to be seen, but it will clearly take a lot to win over the supporters at Molineux.
