It didn't take too long for Dortmund to seize the advantage through Donyell Malen, who scored just 12 minutes in to ease any nerves away from home. The Dutchman scored after a corner from Julian Brandt with what ended up being his first goal of the game.
The scoreline stayed the same until just after half-time when Sancho terrorised the Koln defence to earn a penalty. After beating one defender, Sancho was dragged down by full-back Rasmus Carstensen, opening the door for a Niklas Fullkrug finish from the spot to make it 2-0 58 minutes in.
And then, just three minutes later, Malen popped up again to make it 3-0 thanks to an assist from on-loan Chelsea youngster Ian Maatsen. In stoppage time, Youssoufa Moukoko added one more for good measure, with Jamie Bynoe-Gittens teeing him up in front of goal.

Despite Malen's brace, the focus will once again be on Sancho, who continues to thrive in the initial games of his second Dortmund stint.
Having been totally excluded at Manchester United, Sancho made a strong second first impression in his debut against Darmstadt, assisting Marco Reus after entering the match in the second half. In this match, his first start, his ability to beat a defender was on full display, leading to the penalty that effectively put the game out of reach.
Since returning to Dortmund, Sancho has looked a lot more like the player that United bought a few years ago, rather than the one that was ultimately benched and shut out by Erik ten Hag. That's good news for Dortmund, who have another attacking weapon with a point to prove as they continue to fight in the Bundesliga and Champions League this season.

With transfer rumours continuing to swirl, Gio Reyna was once again named on Dortmund's bench. However, his late inclusion hinted that a transfer may not quite be imminent as Eden Terzic opted to give the American some minutes off the bench.
Reyna came on late with Dortmund up 3-0, which would feel like a somewhat unnecessary risk if the visitors did feel a deal was coming, particularly for a player with Reyna's injury history. The game was already over by the time he was tossed into the fray in place of Salih Ozcan, but he was given those minutes anyway.
The American did make an impact during his brief appearance, though, providing the secondary assist on the fourth and final goal. His pass set through Bynoe-Gittens, who had the awareness to tee up Moukoko for the tap-in finish.
Still, the message was sent earlier in the match as Terzic turned to Bynoe-Gittens and Marco Reus as attacking substitutes ahead of the American before eventually throwing Reyna into the match alongside fellow youngster Moukoko.
Reyna has been linked to clubs all over Europe, with Real Sociedad, Benfica, Wolves and Nottingham Forest among those being mentioned as possible landing spots.
Getty ImagesGOAL'S RATINGS
Gio Reyna (7/10):
Came in late when all of the energy had already been taken out of the game. Didn't get to do too much aside from the secondary assist, which did provide a glimpse of the danger he can create when given the chance.
Jadon Sancho (7/10):
Was a bit quiet during points in the first half, but all it takes is one moment for a player of Sancho's quality. That big moment came early in the second as he cruised by one defender before being dragged down by another. Few players can be as dynamic on the ball as Sancho, who gives Dortmund a whole different attacking edge when fit and firing.
